Do you know how big the Carbon Footprint of Disposable N95 Masks is?

One time use, disposable N95 masks in itself don't have an immense carbon footprint. As you can read on our research webpage about the 'Carbon Footprint of N95 FaceMasks' it is just around 50 grams CO2 per disposable N95 mask. But when you look at the bigger picture, like on the scale of use of a whole country it becomes quite substantial, to say the least.

As an example we took the professional use by healthcare workers in Germany. A professional user group of around 800.000 people that use these disposable N95 masks on a daily basis. We have used published public figures about the use of masks in Germany by this group of healthcare professionals to make a calculation of the total carbon footprint of using 17.000.000 masks per month.

As you can see on a scale like this, that is compared to global daily usage still quite small. The results are already not so small anymore, can you imagine how big the global Carbon Footprint of the daily disposable N95 face masks usages currently is!
